Author Interview – Garry Rogers

Have you ever considered anyone as a mentor? Yes, several.  My friend and former student, John Robertson shows me every day how to see the bright and delightful.  My PhD supervisor Donald R. Currey taught me to be consistent in my use of logic and experiment to search for truth.  My friend Professor Richard W. Travis taught me how to add a touch of humor to my work.  My father taught me that it was possible to do very difficult things without rest.

Who is your favorite author and why? John Steinbeck for the poetry of his prose.

Have you started another book yet? I have finished first drafts of two nonfiction books, and the beginnings of the sequel to “Corr Syl the Warrior.”

Where do you see yourself in five years? The author of five progressively better books.

Are you reading any interesting books at the moment? This week I’m rereading Cannery Row, On the Road, Earth Abides, Aztec, the Panda’s Thumb, and the Deerslayer.  I am reading one new book, Carriers by Patrick Lynch.  Lynch does a great job on disgusting disease symptoms.

When an armed Danog patrol crosses the border into Wycliff District, the Wycliff Council sends a young Tsaeb warrior named Corr Syl to investigate and recommend a response. Corr soon learns that spies have infiltrated his district, and already many lives are at risk. He catches a glimpse of something truly evil, and with no time to spare, must choose between a safe response that might fail, and a sure response that might start a global war.
