Author Interview – Eleanor T Beaty

Do you intend to make writing a career? Yes. I hope to never stop writing and being a writer, no matter what. It is what I live for. Creating a new and amazing story with an original take and theme at every opportunity.

Have you developed a specific writing style? No, I don’t think I have a set style. I could be wrong, and some of my readers my identify a style. I’m a bit hyperactive and I think that affects my writing in the sense that I want to be different people in very different stories. That affects genres too. I’ve had very different reactions to the three books released, but the one aspect that all readers find in common are the memorable characters. Makes me jump with joy when they say that.

What is your greatest strength as a writer? Plot lines and characters. I love off the wall plot lines, sometimes I get to carried away and find myself in a complicated bind.

Have you ever had writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it? I did. After I wrote my first trilogy, which was also my first set of books, I didn’t think I could write anything else. My block didn’t last more than a few months as I turned to writing adult novels, which I never published, but it got me out of the funk and not long after I was back to YA. I guess when you’re stuck you have to walk in the opposite direction and allow life to lead you to where you are meant to go.

Can you share a little of your current work with us? I am working on three novels at the moment. I’m editing the sequel to Souls of Darkness, starting the sequel to Fallen Ruler and writing a book with an illustrator for the younger crowd called Peter of Constantberries.

How did you come up with the titles? Titles are my biggest weakness so I ask for help to everyone and anyone willing to give me their time and attention. I can’t thank enough all those who have helped come up with the titles.

Who designed the cover? Mallory Rock designed the covers for Veiled Mist, Fallen Ruler and Souls of Darkness. The children’s book Alice The Fairy was done by Erik Malagrino, the book’s illustrator.

Will you write others in this same genre? I will always write paranormal and mystical. That is my passion.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? Yes, learn how to look at yourselves in the mirror with honesty, as you will only benefit from what you see, good and bad.

Veiled Mist

On the Caribbean island of Maurray, spoiled-rotten, fifteen-year-old Hanna wakes up to a nightmare. She is not the daughter of an aristocrat but the orphan of a Gypsy. She is the descendant to a mystical Gypsy tribe. Their magic is strong and has lasted six hundred years. Ornella, the tribe’s guardian, arrives at the island with her mutt, Count Dracula, to guide Hanna. Hanna is told she must embrace her heritage or die at the ripe age of seventeen. But Hanna does the unthinkable, she chooses death. She hates Gypsies and would rather die. What she doesn’t know is that her death will destroy the entire tribe. What she also doesn’t know is how persuasive Ornella can be. The nightmare begins.
